My new favorite blog
Who knew NYC had so many awesome birds of prey? Origin of the Species documents them, as well as many other birds, in an up-close and personal way. Many of us only catch glimpses of these beauties from the ground, so the photos on this site are quite stunning. Oh, how I'd love to snuggle up with these guys!

Australian Cleanup Crew Eradicates Banksy Rat
From the NY Times:
". . . a street-cleaning crew in Melbourne, Australia, painted over a mural by that pseudonymous graffiti artist and provocateur. The Associate Press reported that Susan Riley, the deputy lord mayor of Melbourne, dispatched street cleaners to the city’s Hosier Lane after residents complained about squalid conditions at an alley known for its displays of public art. Among the works painted there was a stencil of a goggle-wearing rat, created by Banksy during a visit to Melbourne in 2003 – and removed by the crew, which was instructed to remove all graffiti from the area."

Well, it's not the first time Banksy has been whitewashed. In fact, he's been known to do it himself:
